Garratt Only Player To Emerge With Credit

4 April 2016

Ben Garratt earns praise after string of top saves against Posh.

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis praised the performance of his goalkeeper Ben Garratt as his saves at London Road on Saturday kept the score down to three. Garratt produced a string of top class saves to keep Crewe alive in the contest until Peterborough’s second goal five minutes before half time.

Steve was left hugely disappointed by the level of our defending all over the pitch, as the Posh ran out fairly comfortable 3-0 winners.

The Alex boss told crewealex.net: “I said to Ben at half-time and then after the game that if it wasn’t for him it could have been eight or nine.

“We had some chances of our own and without Ben it could have been 10-4 or something as ridiculous as that. They had far more chances than us and we didn’t defend well enough all over the pitch.

He added: “I saw their players run past our players and it was frightening at times. Thankfully, we had a goalkeeper on top form who made a string of saves.”
