Fox admits that it has been a really difficult season with Crewe struggling in the bottom four for much of it, but the club’s most senior player wants to see a vast improvement on last weekend’s poor showing at Peterborough United.

Ahead of this weekend’s trip to Vale Park, Fox told the club’s official web-site: “It has been a difficult time for us, especially over the last couple of months when we have lost ground to the teams above us.

“The lads have been down and dejected. The morale has been low but we pick ourselves over the week and go again. We have a local derby this weekend and we know what it means to everyone.

“It is up to us to play with a real pride and passion. If we can work hard and show our quality then hopefully that will be enough to get us a positive result.

“We will keep going until the end of the season and we know we will have to play a lot better than we did at Peterborough because we didn’t threaten their goal not nearly enough.

“When the manager questions your effort and commitment then that hurts but he was bang on.

Foxy added: “The most disappointing thing from our perspective is that we are going down with a bit of a whimper and we don’t want to end the season like that. It is up to us to put it right and the fans deserve to see some pride and passion on Saturday, as a bare minimum.”
