Davis: "We Need To Build Momentum"

15 April 2016

Steve Davis says he will use the last five matches to start planning his team for next season.

Steve Davis says he and his staff have been busy this week trying to lift the players following last weekend’s disappointing defeat and subsequence relegation at Vale Park.

The Alex boss wants his Crewe team to try and bounce back to make sure we end the season as strongly as possible.

Ahead of this weekend’s home clash with Scunthorpe, Steve told us: “We will be looking to end the season strongly and take that momentum into next season.

“The approach and preparation for the last five games will not change. The players have trained hard all week and I want to take that into the games.

“We have endured a difficult season and we are disappointed to lose our League One status but football moves quickly and you have to pick yourself up and aim to put things right.

“I will look ahead to next season and that may be reflected in the team selection. The only way we will see what we need is by collecting all the information.

He added: “We will be competitive and aim to win because we want to start getting results as soon as possible and we need to be fair to the other clubs involved at the bottom of the league.

We are preparing for next season but we are also mindful of the fact that we have five games left to get some wins. It is about trying to get that balance right.”
