Davis: "Recruitment Drive Is Underway"

22 April 2016

Steve Davis says he is already active in bringing new players into the club for next season.

Steve Davis and his staff have all been out watching games this week as the search for new recruits begins in earnest. The Crewe Alexandra manager travelled Swansea to watch their Under-21s in action on Monday and continue our good relationship with the FA Premier League side.

Davis is targeting players to improve his team for next season, both on a permanent basis and longer term loans with the new FIFA ruling coming into play from next season. A club will only be able to loan from window-to-window, with emergency loans becoming a thing of the past.

Steve told crewealex.net: “We have all been out to games this week and we will continue to be active in going out to watch players. With our fate being sealed and knowing that we will be in the league below, we have had a start on everyone else if you like.

“We know where we stand and we want to watch as many potential new players as possible. The release list will be massive again, there will around 600 or so on that and then you have the Under-21 market that you could possibly bring in on loan.

“We will cut that down to the players we want and can afford and take it from there. We are hoping that starting early and possibly declaring our interest and holding talks will be to our advantage.

The boss added: “We will continue to get out to watch games and run the rule over players we feel will improve us for next season.”
