Steve Davis praises match winning display from the Oldham goalkeeper

Steve Davis praised the performance of Oldham Athletics’ goalkeeper Joel Coleman after he made four outstanding saves to deny Crewe Alexandra their first win since 6th February. Coleman denied Marcus Haber twice in the first half and then made himself big to deny Callum Saunders in a one-on-one situation. He saved his best save until last when he clawed Brad Inman’s curling shot away from the left top corner.

Following Crewe’s 1-0 defeat at Boundary Park, Steve told the club’s official web-site: “I thought we played well and created the better of the chances but we couldn’t find a way past their goalkeeper.

“He made some outstanding saves. He rushed out and made himself big to deny Callum (Saunders) in a one-v-one situation and he managed to claw Brad Inman when he bent one towards the top left hand corner. It was a terrific save and I think everyone was impressed with his performance.

“Some days you come up against an inspired goalkeeper, who has a performance like that.”
