Crewe Alexandra boss says he was wrong in after-match interview at Port Vale.

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis used the platform of last night’s fans forum to publicly apologise for his comments in the aftermath of our relegation at Port Vale.

The Alex boss was heavily criticism for referring to our League position when he succeeded Dario Gradi back in November 2011 and admitted that he had said the wrong thing following the disappointment of relegation. His public apology was greeted by appreciative applause in the lounge.

in League Two when I took over. thSteve said at the forum: “I would like to take this opportunity to apologise for my remarks I made in an interview following our relegation. I was asked a direct question about our position and I was wrong to say what I said about being 18

“I appreciate that it was wrong and the wrong thing to say at that moment. I should have been more careful in dealing with that particular question but it is difficult to know what to day when you have just been relegated. There is a lot of emotion and frustration around and I got it wrong, so I would like to apologise to the fans for that.”
