Steve Davis says young dressing room needs the help of more experienced heads.
Steve Davis says his priority in the summer will be to add some more experience to his young squad. The Alex boss admits that he has failed to get that balance right during his campaign with only midfielder David Fox over the age of 30. Crewe Alexandra’s squad has an average age of 23 and although a large chunk of his team have actually played a lot of games despite their young age, the boss is looking for more characters to lead us in League Two next season.
The Crewe boss has told the club’s official web-site: “I would like to bring in one or two more experienced players into the club. We need some characters to lead the young group.
“We are assessing the squad and what we may need. That has been going on for a few months now and we know we have got to rebuild.
“This is probably one of the youngest squads we have ever had and although we know we have some talented youngsters at the club, they need some help. We haven’t got enough of those characters in the dressing room and that will be one of the top priorities this summer.
“We need to strengthen the squad to supplement our exciting young players and once I know what the budget is going to be then we will do our best to get the players in who can make a difference to us.”
