Boss: "Only Thing We Are Focussed On Is Vale"

8 April 2016

Steve Davis says his team want to give the bragging rights to our fans amongst a difficult season.

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis says his only focus is getting a positive result against Port Vale this weekend. Crewe travel the short distance to Vale Park looking to end a poor run of results which has seen us lose five on the bounce. Those results over Easter and into April now see us needing a miracle to escape the drop and Davis is aware that could happen at the home of our nearest rivals if we do not get the victory we need.

Ahead of the derby clash at Vale Park, the boss told us: “We have never had the opportunity to turn the corner this season. We have not been able to follow up a win with another and then go on a run. We went six games unbeaten but only won one of those.

“We have just headed straight instead of being able to turn that corner and build some momentum. In some way it would have been better for us to have faced Port Vale a bit earlier because in previous years we have been able to go there and get that win and that has been the catalyst for us to get the points we need.

The boss added: “The only thing we are focussing on is getting the win at Port Vale. We cannot control what happens anywhere else. It is down to us and we want to get a win for ourselves and the supporters. We know how big these games are and we have had a decent record over the last few years, so we will go there aiming to do it again.”
