place after looking agonising over their shoulders at the bottom four in the first half of the season.thSteve Davis says he was surprised by the way this weekend’s opponents at the Alexandra Stadium, Scunthorpe United started the season, but they have greatly improved firstly under their caretaker manager Andy Dawson and now Graham Alexander. The play-offs may be beyond them but they comfortably placed in 9

Ahead of this weekend’s clash at Gresty Road, Steve told crewealex.net: “Scunthorpe have managed to turn their early form around and have had a decent season. They have managed to get some good results and build some momentum. I’m sure Graham (Alexander) will be looking towards next season and will strength in the summer.

“Scunthorpe have a team of experienced players with a good mix of younger players in there as well. He has a strong squad to choose from and although the play-offs may be out of reach for them they will be wanting to finish as high as they can.

“It will be another test for us but we need to win a game because it has gone on far too long now. We want to finish as strong as we can and we will going into all our remaining games trying to get a positive result.”
