Ben: "Home Form Has Not Been Good Enough"

14 April 2016

Goalkeeper Ben Garratt says our home form has to improve if we are to have a positive campaign next season.

Crewe Alexandra’s number one goalkeeper Ben Garratt says that our poor form at the Alexandra Stadium this season has been one of the main reasons why we have been relegated this season.

The Alex have won just three games at Gresty Road this season and Garratt says it is strange to work out why after we won eight and drew a further seven games last season.

Garratt, who is in the running again to win the club’s Player-of-the-Year award, says that the team have to turn the Alexandra Stadium into a difficult place to come again next season as we aim to bounce back at the first attempt.

Ben told crewealex.net: “Our home form has not been good enough. We have lost too many games at home and that is surprising because we did reasonably well at home last season. It was one of the main reasons why we stayed up. To only win a few games at home has to be one of the reasons we have been relegated.

“We have to try and have a really positive season next year and we have to make sure that the teams visiting us find it difficult. We don’t want teams to enjoy coming to Crewe and our aim will be to make our home a bit of a fortress.

“It will be a tough challenge to get out of League Two but we have good players here and we aim to bounce back.

“I will work hard to improve and become more consistent. It has been tough but we have five games left and our focus at the minute will be on those.

Ben added: “Then we will work hard to make sure we have a positive year next time. We need to be having a much more positive season.”
