Steve: "Confidence Has Not Dipped"

Alex boss says players belief in new style of performance remains high

Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that confidence remains high in the Crewe Alexandra camp despite us still looking to secure that first win of the season.

The Crewe boss says that the level of performance, especially in the last two matches away at Wigan Athletic and at home to Swindon Town has only enhanced the belief that we are heading in the right direction. Steve acknowledges that we are in the results business but he remains hopeful that a high level of performance will produce those results.

Ahead of this weekend’s home encounter with Millwall, Steve told crewealex.net: “The players have regrouped well after the disappointment of last weekend because they played really well and got nothing to show for it. The performance was very high and the only difference in the end was their clinical finishing in the last ten minutes.

“The players have trained well and they know they have performed well in the last two games. We have to use that as a positive because if you don’t play well and lose then it is an even emptier feeling.

“The players believe we are heading in the right direction and they have got to keep that level of performance up, which isn’t easy. We are striving to be even better and cut out those little errors which have cost us.

“That belief has not wavered though and they know that if they continue to play the way they did against Wigan and then Swindon, creating the chances we did, then the results should follow the performances. It should take care of itself and the players are always well prepared for the games.”
