Steve Davis says players have not lost any faith in playing style

Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that his group of players have the resolve to overcome a slow to the season. The Alex boss says the morale of squad has not been deeply affected by the results we have had so far this season, but he admits that we need that first win to match some encouraging performances.

Crewe travel to Shrewsbury this weekend aiming to record that first win of the season and Davis is a firmer believer that his Crewe team can upset the odds and get a positive result at the Greenhous Meadow.

The Alex boss told us: “We have prepared well for the game and the players are ready. They have shown a real resolve this season and not been greatly affected by the results. Nobody likes losing football matches and this group is the same and they have worked hard every day to change things around. I cannot fault their effort.

“Their response to set-backs has been good and that is pleasing to see as a manager. They come in on a Monday, get themselves going again and train well. They haven’t stopped believing in what we are trying to do and that is very important.

“We haven’t lost faith and when we achieve that first win, it will increase the confidence and we can go on from there.

“People keep saying we are not far away and that we have played well in the majority of our games but it’s those little errors that are costing us.

He added: “You have more of a chance of winning a game if you have more possession of the ball but dominating possession doesn’t necessary win you the game. Scoring goals and keeping them out of net is what we need to do more often.”
