Nugent Comes Through

25 September 2015

Ben Nugent fit and available after impact inury.

Ben Nugent has been given the all clear to be available for selection for the trip to Walsall. The defender was eventually forced off against Shrewsbury last weekend through injury but he was able to put that knock behind to participate fully in Tuesday’s team bonding day in the Lakes.

Nugent suffered an impact injury to his groin muscle in the 1-0 win at the Greenhous Meadow and was eventually replaced by George Ray in the second half. Being the man he is he took some persuading to come off!

Steve Davis told the club’s official web-site: “Ben is okay. He came in on the Sunday for treatment and wanted to go with the rest of the lads to the camp on Tuesday. It was an impact blow rather than a muscle strain and although he had a fair bit of bruising, he didn’t let it affect him on Tuesday.

“He embraced the day, rolled his sleeves up and got on with it. He wanted to go with the rest of the lads and take part and he never once moaned about his groin or wanted to sit out.

He added: “That is what he is like as a lad. He is a tough lad and mentally strong. He just gets on with things and as I said recently he is one of those warrior type defenders for us.”
