James Collins praises youngster after his three early goals in his senior career.
James Collins, the first team coach of Crewe Alexandra, has praised on-loan midfielder Adam King for his contribution when it has come to scoring goals this season.
The on-loan Swansea City teenager has struck three goals already this season and although they haven’t been enough to get us our first win of the season just yet, Collins has been impressed with King’s energy levels to get in and around the opposition box. King netted his third goal for the club with a long drive against Swindon just after the hour mark on Saturday to give us the lead, but frustratingly we couldn’t capitalise on that advantage to claim anything from a game we should have won.
Collins has been impressed by the early contribution made by the Scotland Youth International so far this season. He told us: “When you sign a player on loan you are never quite sure what they are like or what they are going to do. You watch them and know a bit about their character but most of the time you have to back your judgement.
“We thought that Adam would come in and give us some real energy in midfield. We knew he was the type of midfield who could get around the pitch and we knew he was decent on the ball.
“Adam has shown that he can get in the box and that he can take a goal. He has done tremendously well to make the step up into senior football and score three goals already. Him getting goals from midfield has been a real bonus for us because we haven’t had goals from midfield for a number of years now.
James added: “Now if he can keep that ratio up remains to be seen but any goals he can get us are an added bonus.”
