James Jones Signs New Deal

7 September 2015

Crewe Alexandra delighted as another Academy graduate commits his future to the club.

Crewe Alexandra is delighted to announce that our midfielder James Jones has signed a new and improved contract with the club. The 19-year-old has signed a new two-year contract to take him through to the summer of 2017 with an option for a further year.

Academy graduate Jones made his break through into the first team picture last season marking his senior debut as a second half substitute for Danny Haynes away at Crawley in November 2014.

The Winsford-born midfielder went on to make his first start in a 3-1 home win over Gillingham in January and then scored his first goal in a 3-2 win at Colchester United four games later. Jones kept his place in Steve Davis’ midfield for the remainder of the season to notch up an impressive 26 appearances during his debut season.

His exceptional form in the second half of the season saw him help Crewe retain their League One status and Jones named as the club’s Breakthrough Player Of The Season at the club’s annual awards evening.

Jones, who has won International honours with Scotland at Youth Level, has not featured so far this season after suffering a dislocated shoulder against Alsager Town in pre-season. He has successfully undergone surgery on the injured shoulder and is on target to make a return to training at the end of this month.
