Door Re-Opens For Chris Atkinson

1 September 2015

With Bingham out for a couple of weeks, the door re-opens for Atkinson

With Billy Bingham expected to miss our next two home games against Swindon Town and Millwall with a slight hamstring strain, the door has re-opened for Chris Atkinson.

Bingham was forced off after aggravating his hamstring in the first 20 minutes of our 1-0 defeat at the DW Stadium.

The midfielder has not torn the muscle and it is not as bad as first feared, but the strain is to rule him out for the next couple of weeks at the very least.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “The injury to Billy is not too bad. He has a slight strain rather than a tear.

“It is not a long term thing with him but he is expected to miss the next couple of weeks.

“It will give Chris (Atkinson) an opportunity. He has had to wait patiently for his chance and had a good pre-season for us. He has improved and has benefitted from having a proper pre-season because he missed most of it last season. He is fitter and stronger.

“He will be raring to go if he is given that chance and he will be determined to show what a good player he is.”
