Dean Has Done An Outstanding Job

Steve Praise For Saddlers Boss

Steve Davis has praised the ‘outstanding job’ Dean Smith has achieved at Walsall. Smith is the fourth longest serving manager in the English game behind Arsene Wenger, Paul Tisdale and Karl Robinson. Davis is currently seventh on the list.

Smith has guided Walsall to second place in League One and this evening they also take on Premier League champions Chelsea in the League Cup. They also reached the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Final last season where they were beaten by Bristol City in the Wembley Final.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Dean has done a very good job and he is one of the longest serving managers in the division and rightly so, because he has been outstanding for Walsall.

“They are a similar size club to us and they give their young players a chance as well. The team work very hard for him and I have great admiration for Dean and his staff there.

“They have made a great start to the season and they will be hoping that continues.

He added: “We go to their ground at the weekend on the back of a good result at Shrewsbury. Walsall has been a god hunting ground for us in the past and we will go there in confidence hoping to build on what we achieved on Saturday. “
