James Collins says that Shrewsbury will be confident following promotion.
James Collins, the club’s first team coach expects Micky Mellon’s Shrewsbury Town side to be brimming with confidence following their promotion winning season.
The Shrews made it back into League One at the first time of asking after a splendid season and Mellon has spent the summer equipping his squad with good players such our former captain Matt Tootle and our former Academy graduate Junior Brown. He has also added the likes of Matt Sadler, Liam McAlinden and Larnell Cole on loan and most recently Ian Black previously of Glasgow Rangers.
Collins expects a tough encounter at the Greenhous Meadow with Crewe still aiming for that first win of the new campaign.
Ahead of our trip to Shropshire, Collins told the club’s official web-site: “Shrewsbury coming up last season will give them a lot of belief and confidence.
“They are used to winning matches and that happens when you win promotion, you develop a winning habit and you can take that momentum into the new season. They have had a couple of wins and although they will find this level a lot tougher than the one below, they are showing that they can be competitive.
“They will be positive in their approach and I’m sure that the confidence they had will bode well for them.
Collins added: “What we have to do is focus on ourselves and produce the same level of performance we showed away at Wigan and then at home at Swindon when we could have got something from both games with a bit of good fortune in our favour.”
