Boss Wants Home Form To Count

28 September 2015

Steve targets first home win after success on the road.

Steve Davis is hoping to make home advantage count this week after collecting an impressive four points from a possible six away at Shrewsbury and Walsall. The Railwaymen take on Southend tomorrow evening and then host Dean Saunders’ Chesterfield at the weekend.

Crewe are still looking for a first home win of the season and Davis says that the Alexandra Stadium has to become something of a fortress again if we are to move away from the danger zone. Crewe’s impressively only lost two games at home in the second half of last season, with one of those coming against Bradford on the final day of the season.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “I think if we were offered four points from trips to Shrewsbury and Walsall beforehand we would have taken it. It is a good return of points but we have to build on that with the two home games.

“Shrewsbury was a derby game and we went into it still looking for that first win so there was the added pressure of that. Walsall are full of confidence and were flying so that is always difficult. I thought they were a very good side. I thought Coventry were the best side we have played so far and Walsall were as good, if not better, than them. They have one or two real quality players who can hurt you.

“We know have two home games coming up in a short space of time so we have to make the most of that. We need to winning home games, if we are going to climb the table.”
