Bingham Suffers Slight Set-Back

25 September 2015

Alex midfielder not available after feeling tweak in hamstring.

Crewe Alexandra midfielder Billy Bingham has suffered a set-back in his quest to return from a hamstring injury. The summer signing from Dagenham and Redbridge suffered the injury away at Wigan Athletic with Chris Atkinson deputising in midfield.

Bingham did return to light training but when he underwent his fitness test to step up into full training, he felt some soreness in the muscle and was withdrawn as a precaution. It is nothing too serious but is a frustrating delay for player who has made a promising start to his Crewe career.

Steve Davis told the club’s official web-site: “Billy has suffered a set-back with his hamstring. It is not a re-occurrence but he felt a bit sore when he did his fitness test, so we will be cautious with him. It has set him back a week or two and it is frustrating for Bill because he was eager to get back.

“He will just need a bit more time and he will continue to work hard with Rob (Sharp) and it shouldn’t be too long before he is back playing.”
