Balance Not Quite Right

14 September 2015

Boss may sacrifice some flair for more resiliance.

Following the weekend defeat to Millwall, Steve Davis admitted that he may have to address the balance of his team and consider putting more defensive minded players into his starting XI. The Alex boss was hugely disappointed with the goals we conceded in our 3-1 home defeat and he is looking for a vast improvement when we are out of possession.

Steve told crewealex.net: “At the moment we look like we have a back four and a goalkeeper and four attackers. I will have to have a look at the balance of the team because we need to be better when we don’t have the ball.

“I don’t particularly want to put more defence minded players in the team. I don’t want to go down that route because I want us to concentrate on being creative and causing the opposition problems.

He added: “I might have to do that to try and turn things around and get the results because the same issues and problems are arising when we not in possession. It has been the case for a number of years and it is something we need to improve on.”
