Davis says Liverpool youngster could be suprise package as we get set for two away games.
Steve Davis says that if he was to hand 18-year-old Harry Wilson his first full start this week, he ‘certainly wouldn’t let anyone down.’ The on-loan Liverpool forward has had to wait patiently for a chance after joining the club on a youth loan back in late August.
The full Wales International has been limited to three substitute appearances thus far but the Crewe Alexandra boss recently stated that the quick winger could well have started against Wigan Athletic in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy if he had not been on International duty for his country’s Under-21s.
The Crewe Alexandra manager told us: “There comes a point where you have to give others a chance and the likes of Harry and Callum Ainley are in that category. They are waiting for their opportunity and there comes a time you have to give them a chance and see what they can do.
“We have a few players like that and it is up to those with the shirts at the moment to play consistently well to keep them out of the team. The competition is good.
“If I was to select young Harry then I know he wouldn’t let anyone down. He works hard every day and he is quick and could offer us something different.
He added: “If that comes this week against Burton or at Blackpool at the weekend, we’ll have to wait and see but I know that he is desperate for a chance and sometimes it is only right to look at someone else.”
