Steve Davis gives his post-match reaction from Bloomfield Road after 2-0 defeat.
It was a disappointing result because we had come here in great confidence after working hard in the week to get a result at Burton. The supporters were excellent and came out in their numbers and we are disappointed for them as well because I’m sure there will be a few of them who will be staying over in Blackpool tonight. They were terrific for us and made a lot of noise.Following the 2-0 defeat at Bloomfield Road, manager Steve Davis told the club's official web-site: "
“I didn’t think there was a lot in the game and that we were the better side in the first half without forcing their goalkeeper into too many saves. There wasn’t a lot in the second half either and both sides were hoping for something to drop and that is what happened with their first goal.
“The full-back (White) has hit a shot that looked like it was going well wide and its hit James Jones on the back or shoulder and wrong footed Ben Garratt. We needed something like that because I didn’t think either side was going to open up the defences with some individual quality today.
“At 1-0 we were still in the game and passing the ball and getting forward but we couldn’t create that real genuine chance. That is three games on the bounce that we haven’t scored and the forwards know we cannot rely on keeping clean-sheets all the time. We managed that at Burton but today we didn’t and we didn’t look like we were going to score either.
“The forwards need to be more dangerous. The wingers need to create and score more and step up. We will give our own their chances but that cannot go on forever.
“I thought we were in control of the game in the first half and it was a blow to lose David Fox when we did. He had been a great influence on what we were doing and had a few shots as well. He seemed to twist his back when he had a shot and couldn’t continue. It was a bit like Lauri last week and he was unable to continue.
“We didn’t have that control as much when Foxy went off and some of them found it more difficult in the second half but we didn’t score when we were on top, possession wise, and they did.”
