Players Looking Forward To Challenge

29 October 2015

Steve Davis says his players are up for Blades test.

Steve Davis says his players have moved on quickly from last week’s disappointing result at Blackpool and are looking forward to the challenge of facing Sheffield United at the Alexandra Stadium on Saturday.

The Railwaymen are still looking for their first home win of the season and will be looking for points to stay in touch with those ahead of us at the bottom of League One. The 2-0 reverse at Bloomfield Road leaves the Alex five points adrift of safety.

Ahead of our home game against Sheffield United this weekend, Steve told crewealex.net: “The staff and the players have to move on quickly. We suffered our first away defeat in five games at Blackpool and we didn’t expect it. We went there with a lot of confidence after the way we had been performing away from home and had done previously against Gillingham and Burton.

“We have gone through the DVD and selected things we need to improve on but we cannot change what happened at Blackpool, you have to focus on the next game.

“We have learned things about the players and they have worked hard every day this week. They are looking forward to the weekend and facing Sheffield United. They know it will be a challenge but that is what we have fought so hard for in the past few years, to remain at this level.

Steve added: “We want to be facing clubs like Sheffield United and give it a real go. Our support has been terrific this season, both at home and away. They have been very supportive to the players and we all appreciate the backing they have been giving us. It has been fantastic and we just have to stick together through the good and bad times.”
