Mask Sourced For Defender Ray

16 October 2015

Defender could be available for Blackpool trip after company measure him up for mask.

A protective mask has been sourced for defender George Ray and once fitted the defender will be able to train again wearing it. Ray fractured his cheek in an aerial collision against Wigan Athletic in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy and was knocked unconscious for a brief moment before being stretched off.

October. thRay, 22, is likely to miss the club’s next two games against Gillingham and Burton Albion, but if he feels comfortable then he could be involved away at Blackpool on Saturday 24

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis told the club’s official web-site: “We have sourced a company to get a mask fitted for George and he went to Birmingham this week to have that measured up.

“He will be able to train wearing it, to get used to. I don’t know what it is like to play in a protective mask across your cheek because I never had to during my career. I am sure once he feels comfortable wearing it then he will declare himself fit and available.

“He won’t be involved this weekend or on Tuesday but after that I am sure he will make himself available for selection again.”
