Jonah To Feature For Under-21s

James Jones to feature for the Development squad against Doncaster today

Alex midfielder James Jones will play his first competitive match since having surgery on his shoulder in the summer against Doncaster Rovers this afternoon. Jones missed the start of the campaign after suffering a dislocated shoulder in our pre-season match at Alsager Town.

It was a blow to lose youngster Jones on the eve of the new season and the Scotland Youth International has worked exceedingly hard to return from injury just ahead of schedule.

Jones will play for the club’s Development squad against Doncaster Rovers in the FA Premier Cup at Gresty Road this afternoon. Kick off 1pm.

Steve Davis told the club’s official web-site: “It will be good to have a few players back from injury and International commitments. Jonah will play for the Under-21s today and it is good to have him back with us.

“He has worked hard to get back and this will be his first competitive game since his operation. He has trained with us and been competitive but this will be the first time he will face an opponent, who doesn’t necessary know he has had a shoulder injury.

“Jonah is a strong lad mentally and he doesn’t let things faze him and I’m sure he will take it in his stride.

“It is now a question of him working on his fitness levels and building that match sharpness back up. It will be good to have him back and offer even more competition for a midfield place.”
