A fit-again James Jones will be like a new addition says Steve Davis.
Steve Davis says that having a fit again James Jones will be like having a timely new addition for his squad.
Jones, 19, made his comeback from injury in yesterday U-21s 3-2 win over Doncaster Rovers at Gresty Road and he marked his first taste of action since pre-season with the winning goal from a last minute free-kick.
Jones came through the 90 minutes unscathed and he looks physically stronger after spending three months in the gym working on his core strength. Jonah had surgery on his shoulder after dislocating it in our pre-season game with Alsager.
Crewe boss Steve Davis says the return of the Scotland Youth International will only increase competition for places in the midfield engine room and he could now be involved against Gillingham this weekend.
Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Johan is looking fitter and stronger and he has worked hard to get back quickly. It will be like having a new addition to our squad and he will add some real competition to our midfield.
“He will be important to us throughout the season and him having the time out through injury has allowed him to develop physically in the gym. He is raring to go again and it is good to have him back.
“Jonah was one who surprised people with the number of games he played last season. He probably didn’t surprise himself because he has belief in his own ability and he thinks he is a good player, which is a great asset to have.
The boss concluded: “He definitely improved with the games. He didn’t play well all the time but the good thing about him is that he plays with courage. He is one of those players who always wants to get on the ball, he never hides. We always wants it even if he has given it away with his last pass.”
