Club To Remain Cautious With Bingham

2 October 2015

Billy Bignham will only resume full training when he ovecomes slight hamstring set-back.

Billy Bingham’s return to first-team action has been placed on hold for another week to 10 days after he felt some tightness in his hamstring on the eve of his return to full training.

The club are taking no chances with the former Dagenham and Redbridge midfield player as they do not want to risk a relapse in his recovery.

Bingham has not featured since suffering the hamstring pull away at Wigan Athletic and Chris Atkinson filled in gallantly until the manager shook up his system against Southend on Tuesday evening.

Steve Davis, the Crewe Alexandra boss told us: “Billy has had a slight set-back but it has only put him back a week or so. We have to be cautious with him because we don’t want to push it and then we lose him for an even longer period.

“It has been a frustrating time for him because he is desperate to get back playing and help the team.

“We ease him out of a return to full training because he felt some tightness and discomfort and we didn’t want to take a chance with that. It is only a slight set-back and he is not far away.

The boss added: “We have the likes of Chris, who can come into the midfield and slot in with no problem if needs be.”
