Chances Still Here For Wilson

14 October 2015

Steve says on-loan Liverpool youngster will still get chances to show what we can do.

On-loan Liverpool youngster Harry Wilson will still get chances during his spell with Crewe Alexandra according to boss Steve Davis. The Welsh teenager has been limited to just three substitute appearances so far this season, but the Alex manager has revealed that he would have started his first senior game against Wigan Athletic in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy if he had not been away on International duty with the Wales Under-21.

Davis and his coaching staff have been impressed with Wilson’s attitude since signing on a youth loan from the Premier League side and they believe that he will get chance to gain some invaluable experienced at this level.

Steve told crewealex.net: “There are still chances here for Harry and he is working hard in training to get that opportunity. He would have played in the cup game against Wigan but he was away on International duty with Wales and then he would have been involved at Barnsley but again he was away.

“He played 70 minutes for Wales Under-21 on the Friday and that is why we didn’t get him back for Barnsley, like we did with Callum (Saunders) who didn’t play.

“Harry got a bit of knock in the game and it would have been pointless to get him back to sit on our bench after playing the majority of the game on the Friday.

The boss added: “Harry is here to gain experience and will be here for however long Liverpool or ourselves want him here. It is a good arrangement between the two clubs and he will get his chances. When he does then he knows it is up to him to take them.”
