Steve Davis steps up his search for proven on-loan striker.
Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that his pursuit of a striker has gained some momentum over the last few days. The Crewe Alexandra boss has spoken to two potential targets and says that he has been encouraged by what he has heard about the possibility of bringing them into the club on a short-term basis.
Steve is aiming to bring in an experienced and proven goalscorer to add his own attack. Crewe have struggled to score goals recently and the Alex boss has continued to give his own a chance to stake their claim in his starting XI.
Steve told crewealex.net: “We have struggled to score goals lately and we are looking to improve on that. We have worked hard this week on being more creative in the final third. Our decision making has let us down this season.
“We have got to work to our strengths more and then become more clinical in and around the opposition penalty area.
“I have thought about bringing another one in on loan for a while and I have spoken to John (Chairman John Bowler) about it. As long as it is doable financially and he is better than what we already have here at the moment then we will look to do something before the deadline.
“I have two potential players in mind and it is still a possibility. I will step that up next week ahead of the deadline and see if we can do something to help us.
He adds: “I want someone with experience if possible, who is proven.”
