Steve After Positive End To 2015

Steve Davis says Crewe still in touch to move away from the drop zone before the turn of the year.

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis says that entering the Christmas and New Year period will be the ideal time to move away from the relegation drop zone. The Alex boss will be eyeing points in the build-up to Christmas with fixtures against those clubs close to us in the League One table and he believes that there is time for us to improve as a team.

With League One immensely tight this season, the Railwaymen are still only three points behind Swindon Town, who currently occupy the position just above the relegation zone.

Ahead of our home game against Peterborough United this weekend, the Alex boss told us: “The managers in this league have been saying all season than on any given day, anyone can beat anyone and I believe that.

“If we can be consistent over 90 minutes and put two halves together like we did against Sheffield United then we have shown what we are capable of. Bottom can beat top and no-one is getting away. There isn’t that really outstanding team in the division.

“The points difference from bottom into the middle of the league isn’t that great. One or two wins can make a massive difference to your position and build some momentum. It is all very tight and we are still only a third into the season.

“We do tend to improve as a team and we have a young group of players who will only get better. It is still relatively early and we have time to turn our fortunes around.

He added: “When we are beaten like we were at Bradford, it is important that we don’t dwell too much on it. We dust ourselves and go again here and that is what we will do.”
