Steve Davis wants his players to build on Tuesday night's fantastic comeback at Colchester at home.
Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis says his players showed the ‘perfect reaction and response’ at Colchester United following on from our heavy 5-1 defeat to Peterborough United.
The Railwaymen fought back from 2-0 down in Essex on Tuesday night to grab all three points thanks to goals from Ryan Colclough, Marcus Haber and new loan signing Ryan Lowe.
The Crewe Alexandra boss is determined to try and improve our home form though. We have just won once at home this season, albeit coming in a super 1-0 win over promotion favourites Sheffield United.
Ahead of our home game with Oldham this weekend, Steve told crewealex.net: “We don’t want to feel like we all did against Peterborough again. It was a horrible feeling to lose 5-1 at home and we don’t want to feel that situation in the dressing room again.
“We know we were up against a good side in Peterborough and we are not taking away from them because they were clinical, but we were very poor in that second half. We want to be doing a lot better than that.
“It was something we all had to share, me, the staff, the players and our supporters but I think we went a long way to getting rid of that feeling on Tuesday night.
“The reaction and response from the players was fantastic. It was a long way to go but it was great comeback and a great three points for us. That has gone now and we move on to the next one and Oldham.
He added: “What we want to do is get back to winning at home. Our record was relatively good last season but it hasn’t been the case this season. We want to play well in front of our home fans and get three points for them and for ourselves. If we can then it would bring us level with Oldham and that is a great incentive to have going into the game.”
