Haber & Saunders On International Stand-By

6 November 2015

Duo may be available for Bradford trip

Crewe Alexandra strikers Marcus Haber and Callum Saunders could be available for the Club’s trip to Bradford next weekend after only being placed on the stand-by list for their respective nations.

Wales Under 21’s face a home double-header in European Championship qualification against Armenia and Romania, whilst Canada take part in two World Cup 2018 Qualification matches against Honduras and El Salvador respectively.

Should an injury occur in either international squad, then Callum or Marcus may be drafted in last minute, if not then they will remain in Crewe for training and available to make the trip to Valley Parade on 14th November.

Boss Steve Davis said: “Both Marcus and Callum have been placed on stand-by and we’ve not had any further update yet – no emails or calls yet from Canada or Wales.

“We lose Haber for two weeks on these international periods, so we don’t like to lose him – and that’s the same for Callum because they’re the two strikers at the moment and if they go then we’re two players down straight away.

“It could happen late on where we lost them, but fingers crossed nothing happens and we don’t.”

On loan Liverpool winger Harry Wilson will definitely be missing having been included in the Wales U21 squad for both matches.
