Club To Check On George Ray

25 November 2015

Club hoping ankle injury sustained by George Ray is not as serious as it looked.

Crewe Alexandra will have to assess the late injury sustained by centre-half George Ray. The Crewe defender suffered an ankle injury late on in the club’s 3-2 win over Colchester United and had to be replaced by Stephen Kingsley.

Jon Guthrie had to move over to centre-half, as Crewe reshuffled to see out a remarkable comeback after going 2-0 down just after half time.

Crewe can ill-afford to lose another defender with captain Harry Davis still out and Kingsley now returning to Swansea City following his 93 day loan expiring.

On the injury, Steve Davis told the club’s official web-site: “George got a whack on his ankle late on and had to come off. He got a kick on the top of the ankle and we will have to assess how he is. It is still a bit early to tell but it was more of an impact injury than a muscle strain.”
