Crewe hopeful that Ryan Colclough will train later in the week after knee to the back against Eastleigh.

Crewe Alexandra remain hopeful that winger Ryan Colclough will be fit for this weekend’s trip to Bradford City. The talented winger was forced off on 35 minutes against Eastleigh on Saturday after being on the receiving end of a knee in the back from defender Dan Harding. Colclough tried to shake the knock off but was eventually forced off and replaced by George Cooper.

Colclough has not trained since but has received treatment to his lower back and the club remain hopeful that he could train again towards the end of the week.

Steve Davis told the club’s official web-site: “Ryan was forced off with a back injury on Saturday. He has turned away from the defender and he has kneed him in the base of his back. I thought it was a bit cynical at the time.

He added: “I asked how it was when he came off the pitch and he said that it was sore and it was the same yesterday morning when I spoke with him in the treatment room. His lower back is bruised but he is a strong lad and wants to play, so we are hopeful that he has a chance for the weekend.”
