Boss Eyeing Goalscorer

Boss may look to bring in a forward before the deadline if he can find the right man

Steve Davis may look to add another striker to his squad after seeing his Crewe side score just one goal in the last six games. The Alex boss is weighing up the possibility of bringing in another forward player in on loan before the deadline next Thursday but only if he can find the right man.

The Crewe Alexandra boss is also looking for more creativity in the final third of the pitch and admits that genuine chances for main strikers Marcus Haber and more recently Callum Saunders have been in short supply in recent games.

Steve told crewealex.net: “We have found it hard to score goals of late and of course that is a concern but that is a criticism of the forward players because we haven’t been creating many chances for them either.

“We have discussed the possibility of bringing someone in and are weighing up the options. We have one or two in mind and we have made some tentative enquiries about their availability.

He added: “We have improved our defensive record and become harder to beat. I think we have made less mistakes but we are not scoring freely. We need to create more and take those changes and we could look to bring one in to freshen things up.”
