Billy Ready To Play His Part Again

5 November 2015

Alex delighted to have playmaker back from hamstring injury.

Fit again Billy Bingham is hoping to be involved again when Eastleigh arrive at Gresty Road this weekend to contest our FA Cup 1st Round tie. Bingham was an unused substitute against Sheffield United on Saturday but he has only just returned from a nine week absence due to an untimely hamstring injury.

The summer signing from Dagenham originally suffered the muscle strain away at Wigan at the end of August and in a bid to get back ahead of schedule, the ambitious Londoner suffered a set-back on the eve of a return to full training. That cost him a further four weeks but Bingham feels that the time off has benefitted him physically.

Bingham made his comeback for the Development Squad in our recent 1-1 draw with Bolton and he completed his intended 45 minutes with no reaction.

Billy told Crewe Alex PlayerHD: “It is great to be back and fit again. It was 9 weeks out and it was a nice feeling to be back playing again. There were no problems and I felt good. I went in for a couple of 50/50 challenges and did some long sprints and felt good. I feel ready to go and it is just a question of building up that match sharpness.

“I have done a lot of work in the gym and with the fitness staff here. I did some leg work that I have never really done before at my previous clubs, so that makes me feel stronger and I think it will benefit me.

“Everything has gone fine this time and I am ready when the manager wants me. It was frustrating to get the injury when I did because I felt I was growing into it and improving with every game. injuries happen in football though and you just have to get on with it.”
