A Westley Drilled Side Is Always Tough

19 November 2015

Boss says his players will have to show ugly side of their game if we are to get a result agianst Posh.

A Graham Westley team is always a tough proposition according to Alex boss Steve Davis. The relatively new Peterborough boss, Westley, brings his Posh outfit to Gresty Road this weekend hoping to continue their charge towards a potential top six finish this season. Crewe have faced Westley’s strong Stevenage sides in the past and Davis expects another well-drilled and organised opponent this Saturday.

Ahead of this weekend’s League One encounter against Peterborough, Steve told us: “Graham has a lot of experience of the lower leagues after the work he achieved successfully at Stevenage and then taking on the job at Preston.

“We know that his sides are always tough to play against. They are always organised and hard working. We will have to match that competitiveness if are we to have a chance of getting anything from the game. Last week at Bradford some of our players relished that challenge and some didn’t compete as well as they could have.

“I couldn’t fault their effort or hard work on the day but it is having that desire to get in there and get the ball back for us, to make that block or to get over to cut a cross out. The little details that are important when you don’t have the ball.

“I have been onto the players about the ugly side of the game all season and it something we want to see an improvement in.

He added: “We will have to show that against Peterborough because they also have dangerous players who can hurt you if you give them time and space to play.”
