Steve Davis says his young players can handle any anxiety on Sunday.
Steve Davis believes that his players can handle Sunday’s situation at the bottom of League One but he admits that different players react differently when pressure is applied. The Railwaymen need a point to be sure of playing League One football again next season and Davis believes that the experience gained by his young players will see them handle any anxiety on the day.
The Crewe boss told the club’s official web-site: “We want to be positive and we will be mentally and physically ready.
“Every player copes with the situation differently and we have some young players, but most of them have experience of games and some have been in this situation before.
“Some will respond differently to the anxiety and it is important for them to concentrate on what we need to do and not think about anything happening elsewhere.
“We will aim to be solid and not go all gung ho, but we want to get bodies forward and look to win the game.
“It is not easy to play in games with so much riding on things. I’m sure they will be aware of cheering or groans from the crowd but ultimately they have to cope with all that and focus on what we need to do.”
