Gaffer trying to convince City youngster that his future could be here.
Alex boss Steve Davis has revealed to the club’s official web-site that he has held talks with Greg Leigh about the possibility of him signing permanently with the club.
Steve has declared the club’s interest in taking the 20-year-old on a full-time basis following the success of his loan spell from Manchester City. Leigh made 42 appearances in all competitions – more than any other loan player last season in the Football League.
Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Greg is one we are interested in. We need a left-back because I don’t see Jon Guthrie’s future being at left-back. He is a centre half and that is his natural position.
“Greg did well for us last season. He came through a tricky spell and finished strongly. I like the fact that he didn’t sulk and go back to Manchester City when it got a bit tough for him. He stuck it out, was eager to improve and he did improve.
“I’m sure he enjoyed his time with us and we will continue to talk to him and see if we could be a viable option for him going forward.”
