Alex players back in the gym working of their fitness and conditioning.
A number of Crewe Alexandra’s first team squad have returned for condition training today. After a short break following the end of the season professionals including captain Harry Davis, Chris Atkinson, Ben Garratt, Ryan Colclough and the first-year professionals have returned to work on their fitness levels.
The club will be hosting two sessions a week at their Reaseheath training complex to help them tick over during the closed season. This differs from last season where they were given a number of weeks off before returning to pre-season training.
Steve Davis explained to the club’s official web-site: “We have re-looked at the training over the summer and the players will be coming in twice a week, on a Tuesday and a Thursday to work on their fitness and conditioning.
“They will work hard on their core strength during those days and that will give them a good foundation for the season.
“They won’t be running around the roads of Crewe and Nantwich. I don’t like that. It is not good for the joints. They will do some running on the grass and astro at some point but we are just ticking them over and making sure that their pelvis remains strong for the work they will be doing.”
