Boss To Assess Recovery

Steve to look into improving the demands of playing mid-week.

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that he will look at making his squad better equipped to deal with the demands of playing three games a week.

Crewe have at times struggled to follow up a good result on a Saturday with another good result in mid-week.

That was certainly the case at the beginning of the season, but the Railwaymen did follow up their first league victory of the season with a hard fought point at Yeovil. That was followed up with double win over Walsall and then Peterborough in October.

The Railwaymen had to wait until February to repeat that achievement with vital wins over Colchester and Yeovil Town but towards the end of the campaign, the Alex failed to gain a win on a Saturday and then a Tuesday night.

Steve has told the club’s official web-site that he will look into the recovery of his players when playing two games in three days.

He told crewealex.net: “We have struggled to produce consistent performances when it comes to playing Saturday and then a Tuesday.

“I will look into our recovery and I include their diet in that. I will take everything I can into consideration and how we deal with that. The travelling certainly doesn’t help and from that point of view, I’m glad we have stayed in League One because there are more northern based clubs than southern. “
