Baker: All Coco Wants To Do Is Play

27 May 2015

Assistant manager says chats with Ryan Colclough have all been positive.

Crewe Alexandra’s assistant manager Neil Baker says that any conversations he has held with Ryan Colclough over his future have only been positive. The 20-year-old forward is considering the club’s offer of a new and improved contract and Baker remains hopeful that the Stoke-on-Trent based youngster will commit his future to the club.

Colclough returned from injury to spearhead Crewe’s survival bid in the closing month of the season. He scored a dramatic winner at Sheffield United in March and was the star performer as Crewe won 3-1 at Coventry City, scoring one and creating another for Lauri Dalla Valle.

Baker says he has not discussed Coco’s contract directly with him but explained that the winger is only focussed on being with us next season.

Baker told the club’s official web-site: “I don’t know the situation with Ryan’s contract and where the chairman and Steve are with that. I know that he has been offered new terms and is considering that at the moment.

“I’ve spoken to Ryan and he is positive. The only conversations I have had with him are about him been here for next season.

“All the talks are about next season and he is eager to get back playing on a consistent basis. I’m sure he knows he is at the right club for his development because he knows that he will be a regular for us.”
