We Have Earned Respect With Results

Boss says on our day we are capble of causing another upset at Deepdale

Steve Davis believes his Crewe side have earned the respect of opposition managers due to a number of positive results achieved over the past three seasons in League One.

Crewe Alexandra travel to promotion hopefuls Preston North End this weekend seeking for a third successive win at Deepdale in League One. The Alex boss appreciates that it will be another difficult encounter for his side but says that Simon Grayson certainly won’t be taking us lightly.

Ahead of this weekend’s trip to Preston, Steve said: “I think we have earned the respect of managers and clubs in this division. We have been at this level for three seasons now and we want to stay in this league.

“We want to improve our position in the league and want to do well going forward.

“I think we have earned respect because of the way we can play and with some of the results we have managed to get against the top teams. We have managed to do that again this season against Bristol City and got a point against Preston as well.

He added: “The managers know that on our day we are capable of getting results at this level. No-one takes Crewe lightly and Simon is experienced and professional enough to know that we are capable of going there and putting on a good display. It is up to us to not disappoint them.”
