Uche: "On To The Next Challenge"

16 March 2015

Uche up for Bristol challenge following Deepdale disappointment

Returning striker Uche Ikpeazu is hoping to banish the disappointment of Saturday’s defeat at Preston North End by inspiring the club to another positive result against runaway leaders Bristol City. Crewe defeated Steve Cotterill’s side 1-0 back in December thanks to Jamie Ness’ winning goal and Ikpeazu was certainly a handful on the day, as Crewe enjoyed their best result of the season.

Ikpeazu signed back on loan with the club on Friday after being recalled by his parent club Watford following an indifferent loan spell with Doncaster Rovers. He began on the bench at Deepdale but received a great ovation from the travelling Alex fans when replacing Nicky Ajose in the second half.

Uche was disappointed that his third debut for the club didn’t result in a positive result, but he said: “Preston were a very good team but we have to move on quickly because we have another tough game at Bristol.

“It was an unfortunate result at Preston and I haven’t played too many League games, so I’ve never been on the receiving end of a score line like that before. It hit me hard and it was disappointing but we have to got to remain positive.

“We have beaten them at home this season and we have got to play like that again. We know Bristol have some very good players but we have to go into the game with the same mentality.

“We have played well against some of the best sides in the league and shouldn’t fear going into this one. It’s a challenge but we will be ready for it.”
