Toots Targets Run-In Comeback

18 March 2015

Boss says a fit and available Tootle would be a great help in decisive run-in

Steve Davis has told crewealex.net that the club could be handed a boost with the return of club captain Matt Tootle before the end of the season.

Tootle has not featured since October after twice aggravating his ankle but he recently had a supportive ankle boot removed and he is making steady progress in his attempt to play again before the end of the season. Tootle, 24, has been restricted to just 18 appearances this season after previously winning the Player-of-the-Year award for 2014.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Matt has been doing plenty of work and rehab with the physios.

“His ankle has settled down a bit and he is in a really positive frame of mind. I’d had a chat with him and he is determined to be fit for the end of the season. He wants to make a positive contribution and help us.

“If we can get a player of Toots’ calibre back for the last five or six games then that would be a great help to us.”
