Matt Tootle hoping for return to training in the next couple of weeks

Matt Tootle is making good progress from his ankle injury and has been able to step-up his running with head physio Rob Sharp. The club captain has not featured since suffering the set-back against Sheffield United back in late October and then he suffered a re-occurrence in training to extend his absence from the team.

Tootle will not feature for the club’s Development squad this week but he is hoping to return to light training the following week.

Steve Davis updated the club’s official web-site: “Matt is making good progress and is a lot further forward than he has been. He is in a really positive frame of mind and wants to get back and make a contribution before the end of the season.

“He has been continuing with his rehab and been out running with Rob Sharp. We will have to see when he is ready to re-join in with training. It is unlikely to be this week but we are hopeful that he could play some part in it next week.

The boss added: “We will assess how he is this week and look at where we are at the end of the week.”
