Alan Tate’s one match suspension for two yellow cards on Saturday will open the door for someone else, but the Crewe Alexandra boss could also alter his formation for the mid-week trip to Rochdale.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “With Alan suspended, it could give Jon and Anthony a chance if we are to stick with what we have been doing. We have the players to slot into the position if needs be.

“We could also look at doing something different with the system. We will also look at that and maybe approach a different way of playing against them.”
