Boss gears up for the business end of the season

Steve Davis says his Crewe Alexandra side still have plenty of work to do to avoid being dragged back into the bottom four of the division. A well-deserved 2-0 win over fellow strugglers Scunthorpe United saw us increase the gap at the bottom to a healthy seven points, but Davis has warned that things can alter very quickly.

“You can go on a great run like Barnsley have done to be in with a shout of the play-offs or you can go on a bad run and see yourselves right back in it.

“I think there are still nine, ten, eleven teams still in it. You have to keep going and looking to pick up points. History suggests that you will need 52, 53 points to be sure and that is our first aim. If we can get to that level of points then we will look at it and look to finish as high as possible.

since I came into the club, so that is a nice target to go for but we have a lot of work to do.”th“The best so far is 13
