Alex boss delighted that 20year-old is back with us on loan
Crewe Alexandra Steve Davis says that having Uche Ikpeazu back with us on loan until the end of the season is a ‘great bonus’. The Alex boss moved quickly when Ikpeazu was suddenly recalled by his parent club Watford after a loan at Doncaster Rovers and that bringing him back to South Cheshire ‘was the right thing for the Football Club’.
Ikpeazu, 20, has re-joined the club on loan for a second spell this season and Davis is delighted that the likeable forward has chosen to go out again and get some game time.
Steve told the club’s official web-site: “The Uche situation came out of the blue and we were surprised that he had been recalled by Watford. We asked the question and when the opportunity for him to come back here arose, I thought it was the right thing for us.
“We have been looking for one of his type, ever since he left us for Doncaster. He is the best option. He has always done well for us and he is exactly what we need up there.
“He knows he is in a good environment to learn and play games and that is the two factors that are the most important to him. That is the reason he jumped at the chance to come back because he knows what this club is about and what we can offer him.
“I would much have a player like Uche here rather than not and that is a great bonus for us. He will learn from the experience and move on. We forget how young he still is and he is still very early in his career and his development.
“I am sure it will give everyone a lift. When he left it did knock us a bit as a club because we didn’t expect it. We all felt it from the board room to the supporters.
He added: “I am sure there will be one or two, who will disagree with the decision and that is their opinion. I will always do what is right for the Football Club and that is having a player of Uche’s ability here with us.”
